·268 words·2 mins

I worked as Project Manager and Team Leader for the software system supporting the user services of the Spanish Earth observation satellite PAZ. In this role, I was responsible for overseeing the maintenance phase of the operational software, ensuring service continuity, reliability, and performance for end users relying on satellite data products. Given the mission-critical nature of the system, stability, traceability, and controlled evolution were fundamental aspects of my approach.

During the maintenance phase, I coordinated corrective, adaptive, and preventive activities, prioritizing incidents while maintaining strict quality and configuration control standards. I led the technical team in diagnosing and resolving complex issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operational services. This required close coordination between development, operations, and stakeholders, as well as structured planning to guarantee compliance with service-level agreements and contractual commitments.

In parallel, I managed extension contracts aimed at incorporating new features and service capabilities into the system. I supervised requirements analysis, effort estimation, planning, and execution, ensuring that new developments integrated seamlessly into the existing operational environment without compromising system stability.

As both project manager and team leader, I balanced technical oversight with people management. I coordinated workloads, supported team members in technical decision-making, and ensured alignment between business objectives and engineering implementation. Regular communication with stakeholders and institutional representatives was a key part of the role, providing visibility into progress, risks, and strategic direction.

This experience strengthened my ability to*lead software projects in operational aerospace contexts, where reliability, contractual rigor, and controlled evolution are as important as technical excellence. It also reinforced my commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions while keeping long-term maintainability and service continuity.
